The Uganda National Examinations Board is seeking Shs10.7 billion to enhance security of examinations and certification.

Many accusing fingers have pointed at UNEB as being responsible for leaked exam papers that have led to cheating and malpractice.

Odongo told MPs that the Board is embarking on a number of infrastructural installations that will improve security of examinations, among these is CCTV cameras at a cost of Shs2.1 billion to be installed at all marking centers such that all activity can be monitored from the Head Quarters.

He also stated that the board needs Shs2.4 billion to procure an automatic counting wrapping and labelling machine for exams, he says currently these activities are done manually leading to some leakage of papers.

Other equipment needed is an electronic smart locking system at exam storage stations and a security printer for certificates at a combined Shs6.2 billion.
