Police Counter Terrorism experts are examining shrapnel from an explosive that injured two kids at a school in Kawempe, a Kampala suburb on Thursday morning.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, C/ASP Luke Oweyesigire says the explosion occurred at Mother Care Bright School Maganjo .

Two Pupils identified as Ashraf Igembe, 13, and Ronitah Namakula, 13 were confirmed injured and rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment.”

Owoyesigire said the boy’s hand was “shattered as a result of the explosion” and the girl’s eye is “slightly injured.”

Owoyesigire said the cause of injuries to the school kids “was as a result of playing with unidentified item which is yet to be established by Police Experts from Bomb squad.”

Oweyesigire said the experts have “picked the fragments for further analysis and investigation.”
