Hearing of the petition challenging the constitutional amendment that scraped presidential age limits has resumed this morning before the Constitutional court sitting in Mbale.
Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana is today expected to make more submissions why the Age- limit law should not be annulled.
The petitioners’ lawyers led by Wandera Ogalo and the Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago will also cross examine several government officials summoned by court last week including; The Chief of Defence Forces General David Muhoozi, Head of Public Service John Mitala, Secretary to the Treasury Keith Muhakanizi who is being asked by the justices why government picked interest in a private member’s bill to the extent of withdrawing 13 billion shillings from the Consolidated Fund which was shared among-st MP’s for purposes of consulting their electorate on the same.
Also summoned are MPs Moses Balyeku, Margret Muhanga and Betty Nambooze; and police officers Frank Mwesigwa and Asuman Mugyenyi, Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige and the Sergeant at Arms at Parliament Ahmed Kagoye.
The petitioners are challenging the legality of constitutional amendments passed by parliament on December 20, 2017.

Some of the amendments include the removal of all Presidential age limits, and the extension of the term of parliament by two more years.
A panel of five judges led by Owiny-Dollo is hearing the petition.
