The minister without portfolio Alhajji Abdul Nadduli has welcomed the appointment of a new IGP and security Minister.

On Sunday, President Museveni replaced the IGP General Kale Kayihura with his deputy Okoth Ochola.

President Museveni also appointed Brigadier Sabiiti Muzeei, whereas Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde was replaced with General Elly Tumwiine as Security Minister.

Speaking to journalists today, Nadduli said the reshuffle was long overdue, as the country’s security has been operating in crisis mode.

He also advised the new IGP to learn from the mistakes of the outgoing IGP.

According to Nadduli, there have been widespread human rights violations committed by the police, which he says might stop now, with the appointment of a new IGP and security minister.

Nadduli also lashed out at those criticizing the President for appointing Brigadier Sabiiti Muzeei as the deputy IGP, despite his military background.

Nadduli says he sees no problem with the appointment, arguing that after all it is the army that liberated this country.
