It’s safe to say Uganda Police are certainly not comfortable about rumored relationship between Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura and Abudallah Kitatta, the incarcerated leader of the Boda Boda 2010 — so much so that they’re already firing warnings to rowdy boda boda riders have attacked and set on fire offices of the local motorcycle operators association.
On Monday whiles agencies explained the weekend Boda Boda 2010 crackdown, Police spokesman Emiliano Kayima used the press conference to issue a warning against individuals taking the law into their own hands after a rival boda-boda faction vandalized offices amid ongoing investigations into murder of Case Hospital accountant, Francis Ekulagar.
Kitatta is among the 28 people the army says it arrested and being held at Kireka Police station over the death of Ekulagar about a fortnight ago.
Mr. Kayima called against individuals taking the law into their own hands.
He said: “The Police especially CID and its sister security agencies are working hand in hand to screen to see who is culpable so that justice maybe done.”
“Unfortunately, some people are taking the law in their hands destroying property, there were attacks at the Boda Boda 2010 office. The Police of Natete, Old Kampala and Katwe intervened. Ofcourse, some furniture, some paperwork has been burned and this is unfortunate.”
“We ask Ugandans to respect rule of law and let the law work as we are doing so its in our interest to find justice and we pledge all the support, we want to ask everyone who has issues to present them for all of us to do a good job in as far as curtailing crime is concerned.”
