Government has preferred the heaviest of terms while releasing on bail three of the five suspects recently charged with belonging to a terrorist group, the Allied Defence Forces (ADF) over the gruesome murder of former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Nakawa Court Grade one Magistrate Noah Sajjabi granted bail to Umur Maganda, Ahmad Shaban Senfuka and Abdul Kaala who were ordered to pay 2 million shillings cash before leaving court and the trio were also ordered to report to their area District Police Commanders every second Friday of the month, who will submit to Court a report of their compliance and their sureties ordered to execute a bond of 500 million shillings not cash.
Prosecution contends that the suspects and others still at large, between January and March 17, in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and Jinja among other places, with intent to influence the government and intimidate the public for social, economic and political gains, involved themselves in terrorism.
The Case has been adjourned to 23 January for mention as police investigations continue.
