Why Kizza called MPs’ age limit money evil

The leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza has told the legal and parliamentary affairs committee that constitutions should not be amended to fit the interests of a person or party.

She was appearing before the committee chaired on Thursday by Gomba West MP Robinah Rwakoojo to offer her views on the age limit bill.

The opposition has constantly argued that the age limit bill tabled by Igara west MP Raphael Magyezi was designed to specifically remove the last remaining hurdle standing in the way of Yoweri Museveni’s life presidency project.

Kiiza also says that Africa presidents have a tendency of amending the constitution to fit the interests of the current regimes and urged the country to emulate countries like Burkina Faso and Ivory coast whose constitution have been tested.

Kiiza has also advised that the government should come up with comprehensive constitutional amendments through the constitutional review commission.
