Equity Bank Uganda on Monday opened a new corporate and investment banking branch along Buganda Road dubbed the Supreme Banking. The Kenyan commercial bank is eyeing the fast growing corporate and investment banking business in Uganda.
The new branch, Equity’s 32nd branch across the country has been described as ‘an exclusive banking outlet’ and targeting deep-pocketed individuals as well as high-growth small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a view to growing its deposits and loan book.
“We currently have 17 branches in Central and greater Kampala, serving over 500,000 customers. The Supreme Branch is going to help us better serve our priority clients,” explained Equity Bank Executive Director Anthony Kituuka in a statement.
Private banking solutions with sleek halls and personalised services are targeted at wealthy customers who don’t want the hassle of queuing for services.
Phillip Otim, Equity Bank Communications and Marketing Manager said that the new branch has a classy lounge with free Wi-Fi internet; customers have personal relationship managers, preferential lending terms and a choice to operate their accounts in the local currency or any of the major global currencies including the US dollar, British pound and euro. They will also enjoy extended banking hours during weekdays as well as weekends.
Equity Bank this month also launched digital banking solutions dubbed EazzyBanking App, which allows one to transfer funds to other accounts and mobile wallets or pay utility bills such as Umeme and water.
The bank wants its customers to have easy and convenient banking.
