Democratic Party has decided to head to the High Court challenging the proceedings of age limit bill in Parliament.
Addressing journalists in Kampala party President Norbert Mao revealed that the case will be filed tomorrow by a team of DP lawyers lead by Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro.
According to Mao, the case hinges on the fact is that the Speaker didn’t comply with the rules of procedures and that the journey of the bill from the floor to the legal and parliamentary affairs committee was done illegally.
He says the rights of legislators opposed to the removal of the presidential age limit were abused when Speaker Rebecca Kadaga asked the Sergeant at Arms to forcefully evict those she had suspended over indiscipline.
Mao believes that the pro age limit campaigns and current rallies by the opposition MPs and leaders could translate into victories in the upcoming LC elections.
