Government spokesman Mr. Ofwono Opondo says the flash bang grenades at opposition MPs’ residences could be scare tactics to frame government as the walk to work protests return to express dissatisfaction against the presidential age limit removal from Uganda’s Constitution..

We reported that here have been confirmed reports that grenades were reportedly dropped at the residences of Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi and Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana last evening.

“I think there is a planned move by the government,” MP Ssewanyana said. “I think it is intended to take away our live.”

But the government has downplayed the seriousness of the matter.

“Flash bang grenades used for training purposes are not harmful so some opposition elements could have acquired them,” Mr. Opondo said on Tuesday morning.

“Opposition MPs know they don’t have the numbers and logical arguments to stop the Age Limit removal, now using scarecrow tactics,” the government mouthpiece adds.

“There is no record or history of this NRM government killing political opposition.”
