Coming from a difficult season, Makerere University will work out a special arrangement to ensure that about 400 students who have admitted on five degree programmes that were advertised late catch up with other first year students who reported on August 12.
This follows the University releasing the new list more than six weeks after the 2017/2018 academic year opened. A semester has 17 weeks, with the last three weeks reserved for examinations.
Maybe, next week on Monday, I don’t know when the students will come…the college principals where those programmes are administered will put in place arrangements,” said Charles Ssentongo, the Deputy Registrar for Undergraduate Admissions and Records.
According to the list released this week, 42 students were admitted on Bachelor of Science and Information Technology – 25 on government sponsorship and 17 on private sponsorship. Another 33 students were admitted for the Bachelor of Science in Forestry with 24 getting government sponsorship while nine are privately sponsored. Nine students were admitted on Bachelor of Industrial Livestock and Business, five on Bachelor of Geographical Sciences and four on Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
