Police has Wednesday warned against processions in the city relating to anticipated debate in Parliament over proposed amendments of the constitution.

In a lengthy statement, the Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura issued guidelines to be followed by people planning to hold demonstrations.

Gen. Kayihura advised them to instead use channels “such as TV networks, radios and other electronic and print media or indoor meetings.”

Gen Kale Kayihura has Wednesday issued guidelines to be followed by people planning to hold demonstrations that involve processions on Thursday, relating to the debate on the removal of the presidential age limit.
Kayihura says no marching demonstrations will be allowed especially in the capital Kampala, and other cities and towns, and much less near the parliamentary building.

Police say they have credible information about some groups planning to use the cover of processions to cause violence and mayhem in the City Center and around Parliament tomorrow.

Plan to burn Kampala

Gen. Kayihura has this evening been meeting traders at Hotel Sojovalo in Mengo, Kampala.

He revealed to them that Police have information that some people are planning to burn petrol stations and Parliament tomorrow.
