Two Police officers have been shot dead in Kaleerwe by unknown gunmen, their guns taken, Police has confirmed.
Kaleerwe is a slum neighborhood within Kampala.

“The driver of the Noah car in which these workers were travelling was also shot and has since passed on. His name is Kasirye Ssengonzi,” Kayima explained.
“Some other people were injured and the assailants fled the scene. This in identified happened at Kalerwe near Total Petrol station along Gayaza road,” he clarified adding, “More details will be given.”
A source at the nearby Kiira Road Police station said their firearms were found not on their bodies.

Tensions are often high around the highly populated Kaleerwe area which is about adjacent the Northern By-pass about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Kampala City centre and less than half the distance from Kulambiro neighborhood where former police spokesman, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his bodyguard and driver were assassinated in May.
