An officer has been rushed to hospital this Saturday after being hacked by suspected thugs while he was on duty before varnishing with his gun at Mponye police post, in Makindye West constituency in Kabalagala Police Division.
The victim, identified as Kasozi narrated that five men appeared at the station in the middle of the night and when he tried to help them, they pulled out a machete and cut his fingers and neck.
His injuries are said to possibly be life-threatening.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the incident saying the thugs raided the police post in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
The suspects include Timothy Lutalo, Moses Nyeko, Meddy Bale and Alex Kamugisha. Police said the security guard at the suspects’ home told that they (suspects) returned home at the time when the incident had just happened.
“Flying Squad Unit [FSU] has taken the lead in the investigations but all units are going to ensure that this gun is recovered with immediate effect,” Mr Owesigyire said.
