Kenyan nationals living in Uganda have Tuesday joined their people back home to cast their vote for their next president at the Kenya High Commission in Kampala.
The chairman of the Association of Kenyans in Uganda, Isaiah Kojwang has told reporters that the two main candidates incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have agents here but the rest did not bother.
Kojwang says out of the more than 15, 000 Kenyans who live in Uganda, about 1200 registered voters expected to vote from here, others went back to Kenya to cast their votes from there.
Voters started turning up as early as 6 am and by 11am, many had finished casting their vote, High Commissioner to Uganda, Geoffrey L. Okanga told TheUgandan.
Mr. Kojwang also explained that after voting closes at 5:00pm, the ballots from the two polling stations will be counted and results transmitted to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Nairobi for final tallying.
Stella Wanjiru, a Kenyan living in Kansanga, Kampala a said she voted for Uhuru, saying he has delivered to the satisfaction of the majority of Kenyans.
“His competitors have no better ideas and they are inexperienced,” Wanjiru said.
