Aga Khan Kampala student Inaara Savani leads a movement of young people called Stand Up Shout Out Uganda chapter.

This is for people that care about what is going on in the world, what is going on around them and for Ms. Savani, there is no better platform to empower fellow youth than the 9th Common Wealth Youth Ministers summit

Nothing like that has happened in Uganda before, Savani (pictured above with her brother Rahil) tells TheUgandan. The government of Uganda has dedicated Shs1.6 billion for the preparations.

“We as Stand Up Shout Out are looking up to the Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting for it is a big platform to learn from fellow youth,” Savani says.

“It will give us a big stage to empower ourselves as Ugandan youth through embracing and we thank of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development for involving us from the beginning,” she notes.

The conference that is in the final stages of preparation will be held at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort with the theme of the meeting as ‘Resourcing and Financing Youth Development, Empowering Young People’

The five-days meeting expected to bring about 500 guests including 54 youth minsters from Commonwealth member states.

“My focus will be on learning from youth leaders of other Commonwealth countries on how to build my leadership skills,” Savani added.

Ministers will also engage directly with young leaders and youth sector stakeholders to ensure multiple perspectives are included in decision making.

Miss Savani (R) meets Lillian Abor, the chairperson National Youth Council at the Gender Minister headquarters in Kampala recently as during 9th Common Wealth Youth Ministers Meeting that will take place from July 31 to August 4, 2017.
