Kampala Capital City Authority FC clinched the Azam Uganda Premier League title by beating relegation candidates Lweza 2-0 on Tuesday thanks to penalty goals from Tom Matsiko and the league’s top goal scorer Geoffrey Sserunkuma with two games left in the campaign.
“I am satisfied that we did it,” coach Mike Mutebi, in his second season in charge, told TheUgandan. “A game earlier or later does not matter. Congratulations to everyone at the club.”
Mutebi’s boys came into the game with 57 points from 27 games and a five-point advantage over nearest rivals SC Villa who had played a game more and needed just a point to claim the league title.
With 12 titles now Mike Mutebi’s boys are fast closing in on the record 16 held by rivals Villa.
