Murder suspect Mathew Kanyamunyu’s Quatum Logistics Express has Wednesday been closed by Uganda Revenue Authority for failure to clear a debt of sh13m accrued from Value Added Tax (VAT).
According to their profile, Kanyamunyu’s embattled company deals in International Express Courier, back to back Land, Aerial & Maritime Solutions, Air/Ocean Freight, Contract Logistics, Customs Brokerage and others.
URA’s head of the Debt Collection Department, Stanley Karyemera, confirmed the closure of the company located on second street Industrial Area.
He said that in November 2016, URA signed a memorandum of understanding with the director of Quatum Kanyumunyu to clear a debt of Shs25m which had accumulated over a period of two years but the only paid Shs12m and reportedly issued two cheques that bounced.
URA said directors of the company have been given 14 days to clear the debt before the company is handed over to the auctioneers to sell it off in order to recover the balance of sh13m.
