Before the dust calms after the gruesome killing of Assistant Inspector of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the home of Chief Justice Bert Katureebe was attacked by armed men, reports said.
The well coordinated attack that has since remained a top secret within the security circles due to the fear of jeopardizing investigations was at Katureebe’s house in Nakasero at around 3.00am on Wednesday.
One armed man tried to scale the premiter fence of the residence that is next erratic UPDF boss, Maj. Juma Seiko’s home, the blood bank and tycoon Aya Hamid Mohhamed’s AYA Hotel.
The attackers reportedly first climb a tree next to Katureebe’s fence and cut off telephone communication lines to the main house.
Having previously survived an assassination plot last year when a knife-wielding man was shot dead as he approached the Katureebe’s convey in Bugolobi, the Judiciary boss’ security detail has since been on alert and was able to fire at the Nakasero intruder whose fellow gunmen exchanged with the guards as they fled.
The attackers were reportedly pursed for about 500 meters from Katureebe’s home but no arrests were made.
Police has since chopped off the branches of the tree that the assailant had climbed to access Katureebe’s home and on Sunday, a Police post was been established outside the residence, just a few metres from the gate.
Kampala metropolitan Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima was not available for a comment and so wasSolomon Muyita, the Judiciary Senior Communications Officer.
