Four time presidential contender Dr Kizza Besigye has spoken out after he visited controversial Makerere University research fellow, Dr Stella Nyanzi at Kira Divisional police headquarters where she’s being held.
Later, apparently referring to criticism of failing Police holding Dr Nyanzi beyond the mandatory 48 hours, Besigye tweeted, “We’ve been denied access to Dr Stella Nyanzi, who’s been detained at Kira Div Police for over 48 hours allowed by law. No info on what next!”

Media reports say that DPC Richard Asiimwe on Monday morning told Besigye and his group to wait until 2pm if they wanted to see her.
Mr Asiimwe further noted that they should get information about Dr Nyanzi from police public relations officer.
However, Dr Besigye insisted that they had visited Dr Nyanzi because they received information that her health was not good.
Dr. Nyanzi is today expected to appear before court for allegedly insulting the first lady also minister of education Janet Kataha Museveni.
Nyanzi was arrested on Friday last week by plain clothed security operatives and is still detained at Kira division police station.
Nyanzi in different face book posts attacked the education Minister over her statements that government does not have money to buy sanitary pads for school going girls and her position against the transportation of children on boda-bodas which she said puts children’s lives at risk.
Nyanzi has since been suspended from Makerere University over her social media utterances. She is expected to appear before the appointments board for disciplinary action to be taken against her.
