Kampala City dwellers have expressed concerns about the future stability of their city following the end of Jennifer Musisi’s contract as Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director, it has been claimed.
Kampala will no longer receive Ms Musisi’s leadership and direction as her legal contract with KCCA will end on April 14 this year.
Kampala Minister, Ms Beti Olive Kamya confirmed expiry of Ms Musisi’s contract to Daily Monitor, but declined to delve into details of the probable replacement of Ms Musisi, saying that it’s still early.
She said: “I really don’t have details to that effect but when the new KCCA executive director is appointed by the president, you will get to know because it will be public information.”
Ms Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, the Public Service Permanent Secretary, also confirmed the expiry of Ms Musisi’s contract.
Ms Musisi who was appointed by President Museveni as KCCA boss in 2011 declined to comment.
Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Mr Don Wanyama acknowledged expiry’s of Musisi’s contract but noted that the President will appoint a new executive director if at all there is need to replace Ms Musisi.
On March 2, 2017, Musisi, the former Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) legal told the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory bodies and State Enterprise (Cosase) that regretted having taken up KCCA’s top job.
