As Ugandans honour slain Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was gunned down by unknown assailants near his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb, mourners are also sending off his body guard and driver in Katakwi and Mbale, their home districts, respectively.
Kaweesi, 43, and his two aides, his bodyguard Corporal Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa could not make it beyond his neighborhood as bullets were showered onto a vehicle in which he was traveling.
By presstime, Hon. Jeje Odong Minister of Internal Affairs was paying his respects at the funeral of Corporal Kenneth Erau at a requiem mass being led by Rev. Julius Ariko at Orungo, Amuria.
The late Mambewa is also being laid to rest at his home in Namunsi Central ‘B’ today.
President Museveni says the criminals will be hunted down and killed or captured.
The president was speaking last evening at the home of Kaweesi said criminals have infiltrated the police Force and other security agencies, which has compromised investigations into high profile killings.
He also advised the public to be vigilant and pay attention to persons following them and where necessary confront them.
