Parliament of Uganda has announced the death of Hon. Cyrus Amodoi (Toroma County) following a motor accident at Kitigoma on Jinja road last night.
Ssezibwa region police commander, Mr Stephen Onenchan who visited the scene confirmed that the MP Amodoi was traveling in one of the taxis.
Chris Obore, Director, Communications & Public Affairs at Parliament of Uganda told TheUgandan that MP, a retired soldier, had given his official car to Women leaders of Katakwi District who used it during the organisation of International Women’s Day celebrations last week thus had resorted to using taxis as an alternative means of transport.

Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, Mr Lamek Kigozi said the accident involved three cars; two taxis, one from Old taxi park Reg. No UAW 200W heading to Mbale and another Reg. No. UAL 278F traveling to Busia and a Fuso truck Reg. No UAN 447X .
One of the taxis was traveling from Busia to Kampala while the other was reportedly moving in the opposite direction.
Amodoi is a former soldier who contested and in 2011 won the Toroma County parliamentary seat on independent ticket.
His profile on the parliamentary website indicates that he formerly served under the presidential protection unit after being commissioned as a cadet.
He holds a bachelor of arts in education from Makerere University and a diploma in counter terrorism.
