Pupils and teachers of Karukata Parents Nursery and Primary School in Bunono village, Nyarushaje Sub-county were thrown into panic mode after discovering a dead body of their director in one of the classrooms.

Mr Gakibayo Bindeeba is suspected to have committed suicide due to loans he had acquired yet his school had demands.

Bindeeba’s body was found hanging in a Primary Seven classroom on Wednesday morning by pupils who had come for an early morning lesson.

Bindeeba was 57 years old and had seven children. The school boss was also head teacher of another school, Nyabushenyi Lower Primary School in Nyarushanje in the same district.

According to police the deceased had a suicide note in his pocket although they declined to reveal the details of the letter.

However, the police say investigations into Bindeeba’s death have kicked off.

According to Ms Maureen Kyomugisha the widow to Bindeeba, her husband left home in good spirits on Tuesday evening going to Bunono Trading Centre.

Kyomugisha was however concerned when her husband gave her his account number, something Bindeeba had never done.

“My husband gave me his bank account number, something that shocked me because he had never done it before,” said the widow.

Kyomuhendo added that her husband handed her other crucial documents without explaining why.

She adds that she was left in confusion until she found out that the father of her children had been found dead in one of the classrooms at the their school.

According to sources familiar with Bindeeba’s last moments, he had attended a meeting of school directors and district leaders at St Gerald’s Secondary School.

At the meeting, the directors, including Bindeeba were told that all unlicensed schools would be closed as per the Ministry of Education and Sports directive.

According to sources at the school, Bindeeba might have been concerned about his school being closed since it didn’t match the standards.
