Embattled opposition party, Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party senior member, Edward Ssegganyi has died.
Mr Ssegganyi passed away on Monday at his home in Mityana District after battling cancer just 24 hours after being discharged from Mulago Cancer Institute, according to a statement by the party.
He was a bigwig in the Jimmy Akena-led faction, serving as secretary general for two years.
The death, the second such case in Uganda’s opposition ranks, comes just three months after the secretary general of the Democratic Party (DP) Mathias Nsubuga also died.
