Uganda’s Dr Specioza Wandira Kazibwe may have been kicked out of the race prematurely but the former Vice President is aware of the prestige she would have espoused as the chair of the African Union.
She will now have to live in denial following the election of Chad’s foreign minister Moussa Faki Mahamat on Monday as the new AU Commission chairman.
Mahamat overcame four others to succeed South Africa’s Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Sources said.
“The chairperson was elected in the fourth round,” said former Burundian president Pierre Buyoya, adding that Mahamat won after a final round battle with Kenyan foreign minister Amina Mohamed.
