Accused of fleecing poor Christians through a shoddy NGO a few years ago, Rev Can Michael Lubowa has been consecrated as the new Bishop of Central Buganda Diocese despite protests.
Through his African Friends in Need Network, Lubowa was accused of collecting more than Shs100 million promising to get scholarships from abroad for children of poor families in rural communities in the Mpigi, Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga districts that never came to realization.
He was consecrated on Sunday at the diocese headquarters in St. John’s Cathedral, Kasaka Hill, Gomba District.
Rev Lubowa, son to Rt Rev George Ssinabulya, the first Bishop of Central Buganda who retired several years ago takes on from Bishop Matovu who has served for the last 16 years.
