Seven men armed with rifles recently raided President Yoweri Museveni’s farm in Kisozi, Gomba District, stealing his cows and killed one guard next to renegade Gen. David Sejjusa’s farm.

According to one of the policemen who preferred not to be named in the story because he’s not authorised to speak to the media, the thieves on 10/12/2016 raided the home, killed one guard and also stole barbed wire worth about Shs500 million that was going to be used re-fence sections of the President’s farm. After the incident, it is reported that Police chief, Gen. Kale Kayihura massively deployed at both Museveni and Sejusa’s farms and is occasion spotted there physically getting briefed.

The assailants; Umaru Mugwerwa, Ayimbiisibwe Coreb, Yokana Muanguzi, Semugenyi Geremiya, Sserwadda Charles and Irititwe Goldwinewere on Saturday arrested and arraigned before Sembabule law courts’ judge Doreen Ajuna to answer to charges of theft, murder among others. They were arrested loading the President’s property onto Toyota vehicles, number plate UAY 127S and UAV 340M.

The accused however denied the charges despite having confessed upon arrest to the in-charge of investigations and intelligence at Gomba Police Station, Ms Doreen Kachwo that some cattle traders in Kampala had sent them to steal from the president’s farm; to also earn some money for survival. The accused however begged the Sembabule magistrate to plead on their behalf for the president’s forgiveness.

As a result, Gen. Kayihura is last week said to have ordered for the arrest several traders in Kiyemba, Nakasero, Kisenyi and Goodshade in Kampala implicated by the suspects as investigations continue to find out the real motive that led them to raid the president’s farm.

It should be noted that, President Museveni had his holidays in this huge Kisozi farm is located about 100 kilometres west of Kampala, and boasts of an array long-horned cattle. He likes to take visiting heads of state and foreign dignitaries there for talks and excursions.

The incident comes just weeks after police in Gomba District arrested three people on allegations of stealing Mr Museveni’s cows from the same farm and were allegedly taking the cows to Kifampa livestock market for sell.
