Kansanga based Kampala International University (KIU) has lost one of its most experienced lecturers in the Law and Jurisprudence department.
Mr Ojo Obalowose died on Saturday night at Nsambya Hospital, Kampala according to Dr Valentine Tembi, the dean, School of Law.
Arrangements are on going for his body to be taken to Nigeria.
TheUgandan while speaking to one of the Nigerian barrister’s students discovered that he was diabetic, and was also suffering from high blood pressure. “We are so saddened by his (Ojo) death just as the semester was reopening. He died last night due to severe headache and has always had issues with diabetes and high blood pressure,” a female 3rd year Law student said.
KIU, with an estimated student population of nearly 30,000 draws both students and teachers from the Eastern Africa region and the entire African continent. Established in 2001, it quickly expanded so rapidly it began offering unaccredited PhDs in humanities in 2007 — two years before the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) gave it the right to do so in 2009.
